Dandelion Tea

Liver detoxing, anti-inflammatory whole leaf loose tea

The Story

Dandelion is such a celebrated herbal remedy, valuable for a range of issues, from liver detox to anemia to fatigue, but many people are reluctant to drink the sharp, bitter dandelion root teas that are commonly available. For this tea, we have picked the early spring leaves only, resulting in an appealing, refreshing tea with none of the bitterness. Our dandelion leaves are all picked in the wild in the spring around the time of flowering. The whole dried leaves retain their maximum nutrients, have a beautiful rich green color, and can be brewed into a fresh, restorative tea that is truly enjoyable to drink. Our Dandelion Tea is available seasonally beginning in late spring or early summer until supplies last.

Properties

Dandelion is one of the first herbs recommended for gentle, slow, yet powerful liver detox, improving nutrient levels (especially iron), purifying the blood, and removing toxic heat buildup in the body. The brewed leaves can be helpful for chronic or recurring sinus conditions, eye infections, anemia, chronic fatigue, irritability, low immunity, and a tendency toward physical weakness, and have been used in Western herbal tradition to treat deep-seated body inflammation and mania or manic depression (drink daily long term, for as long as six months). Also beneficial to the skin, dandelion tea reduces hormonal acne and hyperpigmentation, and is the best herbal tea choice if one is very sensitive to sunlight.

Flavor

Surprisingly delicate, resembling fresh, lightly floral green tea.

Ingredients

Spring leaves of wildcrafted Taraxacum (dandelion). Gluten free. Caffeine free.

Origin

Washington, United States.

Cautions

Do not use this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless directed otherwise by your healthcare practitioner.

Directions

Take a few leaves or more and place inside a teapot, tea mug, or French press. Brew using filtered, freshly boiled water. Steep, covered, for 10 to 15 minutes, then strain. Add honey or agave nectar if desired.

Sustainable Packaging

Our teas are packaged in eco-friendly clear bags made from cellulose, which is a naturally abundant organic material, then in cardboard boxes for shipping. The cellulose used in the bags is derived from renewable wood pulp that is sustainably harvested from FSC-managed plantations. The bags are certified 100% compostable, meaning they can be composted both by individuals at home and in industrial composting facilities, and are marine degradable, which means that, unlike many other "biodegradable" products, these bags can break down not only in landfills, but also in marine environments.

And perhaps even more important than the materials we have chosen are the materials that we have opted not to use. Our teas are never packaged in individual tea bags or pouches, which produce an enormous quantity of waste that typically ends up in landfill sites. Most tea bags are made from wood pulp or vegetable fiber that is bleached using potentially toxic chemicals, and contain noncompostable metal staples, and many are lined with heat-resistant polypropylene plastic in order to prevent them from bursting open when in transit or in the cup. This means that even tea bags labeled “biodegradable” or “compostable” will, for the most part, not completely break down in a compost heap. We also avoid aluminum tea pouches, which are not compostable, and metal tea tins, which in many cases are not accepted for recycling.

Full size 28 g (1 oz).

Due to the very high cost of our ingredients and the labor-intensive (highly time consuming) small-batch production process, we are unable to accept returns of opened or unopened products at this time.

Lovely tea

I’m not a tea person but I have grown to love the Dandelion Tea (my hubby too). I find it calming & comforting and it doesn’t taste bitter at all.
2 weeks prior to starting on the Dandelion Tea, I had a few hard pimples on my face and even all on both sides of my back which I never had before. I was unsure of the cause. Anyway, after taking the tea for about 2 weeks (4-5 times), I noticed that the stubborn pimples had graduallly disappeared and now I’m totally cleared of it. I’m certain that the Dandelion Tea was the one that had helped as I didn’t do anything else to clear the pimples on my back. Will definitely repurchase it!

Wonderfully dandelion tea

Wonderfully green and fresh tasting. The only dandelion tea that is equal to Earthwise is with whole dandelion leaves and roots that my mom dried herself... I bought this tea for her because drying your own tea is a lot of work and I wanted to give her a treat. She loved it! I had some too and it was fresh and just as good as our own!
